PEOPLE can confirm the couple is no longer treating April 9, 2022 the date of their original wedding in Palm Beach, Florida as the anniversary they celebrate each year. Instead, they’ve shifted their focus to August 2, the date of their 2025 vow renewal ceremony.
The change was first reported by the Daily Mail on Friday, August 7, which cited a source describing the original wedding as an occasion tied to difficult emotions rather than happy ones. “Brooklyn and Nicola’s first wedding in April 2022 is not an occasion they look back on fondly. Nicola ended up in tears. It’s not something they want to be reminded of,” the source told the outlet. PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for the couple for comment.
The vow renewal that’s replaced it in their hearts took place a little over a year ago, and a source close to the pair described its purpose to PEOPLE at the time as something rooted in celebration rather than obligation: “The event is about honoring the love and commitment they’ve built together over the years, and creating a memory that will stay with them forever.”
That sentiment showed up again this past week, when both Brooklyn and Nicola marked one year since the renewal with dedicated Instagram posts. Brooklyn, 27, wrote to his wife, “Happy anniversary Nicola.
